What Do You Want?
Not long after I heard the Paul Tripp’s sermon “[VARIOUS] Warnings of Danger and the Call of Grace,”
I prayed, “Heavenly Father, forgive me for being selfish.”
Forgive me for isolating myself and seeking anonymity when you have given me the gift of community in your church.
“…What do you want?” God said.
I did not know how to respond.
I was silent...
“What do you want me to do for you?”
I desired many things. But none of those things seemed to be important or right in light of the seriousness of this moment.
I could not respond…
“What do you want?,” God said.
In contemplation, I responded, saying, “…I want you.”
I have so many dreams and desires; things that I wanted to do for You in your kingdom.
But if I have all the things I have dreamed of and do not have you, it is all pointless.
So, I want you.
If I have you and not those things, it’s okay God.
It’s okay, my Father.
It’s okay if you want me to do things different than what I expected.
Then, I heard the blessedness of these words.
Because of this, you will be more blessed than you ever dreamed in your mind or imagined in your heart.
Depend on me.
Trust in me.
Wait on me.
Enjoy my presence, and let there be joy in our journey;
Just one day at a time;
Not worried about tomorrow;
Just Holy Communion;
Me, you, and our big family.
In all sincerity, I responded “But, what do I do about my enemies, those who hate me?”
They don’t like me, but they don’t even know me!
He responded, “Whose fault is that?!”
I was silent…
“Love them the same way you love those who love you.”
This way there is no confusion.
In Jesus’s name, Amen
