The Thief and the Truth
I tell you a tale about the thief in the cross.
He and his partner in crime hang beside our Lord and thought all hope was lost.
In agony, he and his partner blasphemed the Lord, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and save us.”
In the silence, the thief reconciled that his antichristian entitlement was unjust.
Conviction settled in with each agonizing gasp.
Because he knew that he deserved the death sentence he had been given.
Through the gift of conviction, the thief became indignant,
Giving his partner in crime a well-deserved rebuke.
All of a sudden he longed for something more than the freedom to do what he wanted to do.
He said, “Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
He only knew freedom when he came to know Truth.
And the truth is when you get the Christ, you get paradise.
