One Day My Love

Updated: Sep 25, 2024

The first day I heard Love was from the voice of my Mama, when she ushered me through the trauma of the birth canal, telling me, “Everything’s gonna be alright.”

Then, one day I heard Love when my Daddy told me “Don’t give up, son. Stay in the fight.”

One day while he was hangin on a tree, I heard Love say, “Father forgive them. For they know not what they do.”

And then, one Sunday morning, I heard Love from my pastor’s voice, crying aloud, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning light.”

One Day, I saw love’s face, as black as night, shining like the sun. Praying, “Father, unimaginable pain is awaits me, but thy will be done.”

Then, one Day, specifically, December 22, 2012, I saw my love, with her beautiful dark skin and radiant smile. She told the preacher “I Do!” I said the same, and she was mine oh mine.

Although she is my love, my vows to her cause me to ponder my commitment to My Love.

Something she knows all too well, because, you see, My Love is Her Love.

One day, Love poured out His blood, the most sacred and precious wine. I tasted, and was  fulfilled in every way a human soul could be.

It was my covenant with the Divine.

Finally, my soul was at rest in Zion.

Now, when I think of Love, I can but dream of what our forever will be like.

Til then I say, “One Day…My Love.”
