Mapping Messiah’s Truth Series: the Promised Seed

#3 Messiah the Promised Seed)

The next truth we will discover in the mapping of the Messiah is the truth that the Messiah is the Promised Seed. Let us not forget to allow our discovery of Messianic truth be governed by the rule of prophecy found in 1 Corinthians 14:29-33, and it reads:

[29] Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. [30] If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. [31] For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. [32] And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. [33] For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. (KJV)

The truth we are discovering must be a consistent theme throughout the prophets, from Abel (the first non-writing prophet) and Moses (the first writing prophet) until now. The prophet Moses wrote Genesis 3:15 KJV, and it says, “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” Notice, in the very beginning, that the seed is called the seed of the woman. Throughout the Scripture, the Messiah is called many titles like the seed of Abraham, the root of David, the son of David, the Son of Man. Isaiah called him the Wonderful, Counsellor, the Prince of Peace, the Might God, the everlasting Father. But he is first called the Seed of the woman.

The Seed can only be called the Seed of the woman, because the Messiah would not be born from an earthly man, but only from an earthly woman. Furthermore, one can only be the Seed of the woman if he is divine. Biologically, it is impossible for a woman to have a seed. The woman has a womb with eggs, and those eggs must be fertilized by the seed that is given to her from a man. Therefore, the only way one can be the Seed of a woman is if he is divine. This prophecy is also repeated by the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 7:15 where Isaiah foretold that the Messiah would be born of a virgin birth. The Messiah did not have an earthly father, for God the Father is his only father. The Messiah could not be born from man, because every man born from the seed of Adam is one that is born of sin. We will discuss in a later chapter how the Messiah is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. The only way the Lamb could take away the sin of the world is through the shedding of innocent blood. Christ’s blood was pure and undefiled, because Adam is not his father, but God is. 

Notice, God is speaking to Eve concerning her seed. The first thing he says is that he was going to put enmity between the Eve’s seed and the serpent’s seed. Next God says that the woman’s seed will bruise the head of the serpent’s seed. This means that there will war between the two seeds that will last until the end of time; only the seed of the woman will be triumphant. While the serpent’s seed could only bruise the heel of the woman’s seed, the woman’s seed deals a deadly blow to the head of the serpent’s seed. In Isaiah 7:14, the prophet Isaiah wrote, “Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a Son and shall call His name Immanuel.” The Messiah is called Immanuel in this verse, and it means “God with us.” We will discuss how Messianic Prophecy describes the Messiah as the Seed, ranging from Prophet Moses, in the Torah (the first five books of the Bible), to the other prophets, to John the Baptist, to the holy Apostles. 

·      In Genesis 9:9-11, Moses reveals the covenant God made with Noah concerning his seed. And it reads: 

9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you; 10 And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. (KJV)

·      In Genesis 9:26 KJV, Moses wrote these words, “… Blessed be the LORD God of Shem.” This is evidence that the Seed would be manifested through Shem’s lineage and not the other two sons of Noah, and Noah came from the lineage of father Abraham. All the Hebrews and Israelites came through the lineage of Shem, Abraham’s descendant. 

·      In Genesis 12:7 KJV, Moses reveals more information about the promised seed, saying, “And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.”

·      In Genesis 13:15 KJV, Moses reveals a promise that he gave to Abraham concerning the promised Seed saying, “For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.” God promised the land of Canaan to the Seed forever. 

·      In Genesis 17:7 KJV, Moses tells of another promise God made to Abraham concerning the Promised Seed saying, “And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.” In Genesis 26:4 KJV, God made another promise to Abraham concerning the Promised Seed saying, “And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.” As you can see the Promised Seed is a continuing theme among the prophets, especially in the writings of Moses.

·      In 2 Samuel 22:51 KJV, David wrote these words about God and his Christ saying, “He is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.”

·      Genesis 48: 4 KJV And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.

·      2 Samuel 22:47-51 KJV 47 The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation. 48 It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me, 49 And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man. 50 Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name. 51 He is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore. …

·      Psalm 89:34-36 KJV 34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. 35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. 36 His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me

·      In Revelation 22: 16, Jesus testifies to the apostle John that he is the root and offspring of David which means that he is claiming his title as the promised Seed. Jesus said, “I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”

·      In Isaiah 65: 9 KJV, Isaiah tells of the promised Seed saying, “And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.”

·      In 2 Timothy 2:8 KJV, Paul also identifies that Jesus Christ is that promised Seed saying, “2 Timothy 2: 8 KJV Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel.”

·      In Revelation 22: 16 KJV, Jesus claims the title as the Root and Offspring of David.  Revelation 22: 16 KJV (The Root and Offspring of David) I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

·      In 1 Peter 1: 3-4, Peter teaches that Jesus has begotten us from the dead unto everlasting life when he rose from the dead, saying, “3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of 4 Jesus Christ from the dead to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,” According to John 1:12, we become the children of God through faith in Jesus Christ who is the Promised Seed and Son of God.

Let us pray, 

Our Father who art in heaven. Hallowed be thy name.  We believe your Son, Jesus Christ to be the promised Seed. We believe that he died and that you raised him from the dead with all power in his hands, even the power to make us the children of God. We confess our sins, and we confess Jesus Christ as our Lord, Savior, Master. In Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.

بیج کو صرف عورت کی نسل کہا جا سکتا ہے، کیونکہ مسیحا کسی زمینی مرد سے نہیں بلکہ صرف زمینی عورت سے پیدا ہوگا۔ مزید برآں، کوئی صرف عورت کی نسل ہو سکتا ہے اگر وہ الہی ہو۔ حیاتیاتی اعتبار سے عورت کے لیے بیج ہونا ناممکن ہے۔ عورت کے پاس انڈوں کے ساتھ رحم ہوتا ہے، اور ان انڈوں کو مرد کی طرف سے دیا گیا بیج کے ذریعے کھاد ڈالنا چاہیے۔ اس لیے عورت کی نسل کا واحد راستہ یہ ہے کہ وہ الٰہی ہو۔ یہ پیشینگوئی یسعیاہ نبی نے یسعیاہ 7:15 میں بھی دہرائی ہے جہاں یسعیاہ نے پیشین گوئی کی تھی کہ مسیح کنواری کی پیدائش سے پیدا ہوگا۔مسیحا کا کوئی زمینی باپ نہیں تھا، کیونکہ خُدا باپ اُس کا واحد باپ ہے۔ مسیح انسان سے پیدا نہیں ہو سکتا کیونکہ آدم کی نسل سے پیدا ہونے والا ہر آدمی گناہ سے پیدا ہوا ہے۔ ہم بعد کے باب میں بحث کریں گے کہ کس طرح مسیح خدا کا برّہ ہے جو دنیا کے گناہوں کو لے جاتا ہے۔ برّہ دنیا کے گناہ کو دور کرنے کا واحد طریقہ معصوم خون بہانے سے ہے۔ مسیح کا خون خالص اور بے داغ تھا، کیونکہ آدم اُس کا باپ نہیں، بلکہ خُدا ہے۔

·      پیدائش 9:26 KJV میں، موسیٰ نے یہ الفاظ لکھے، "... خُداوند شیم کا خُدا مبارک ہو۔" یہ اس بات کا ثبوت ہے کہ نسل شیم کے نسب سے ظاہر ہوگی نہ کہ نوح کے دوسرے دو بیٹوں سے، اور نوح باپ ابراہیم کے نسب سے آئے تھے۔ تمام عبرانیوں اور اسرائیلیوں کا تعلق ابراہام کی اولاد شیم کے سلسلے سے ہوا۔

·      زبور 89:34-36 KJV 34 میں اپنے عہد کو نہیں توڑوں گا اور نہ ہی اس بات کو بدلوں گا جو میرے ہونٹوں سے نکلی ہے۔ 35 میں نے ایک بار اپنی پاکیزگی کی قسم کھائی ہے کہ میں داؤد سے جھوٹ نہیں بولوں گا۔ 36 اُس کی نسل ابد تک قائم رہے گی اور اُس کا تخت میرے سامنے سورج کی طرح ہے۔

·      مکاشفہ 22: 16 میں، یسوع یوحنا رسول کے لیے گواہی دیتا ہے کہ وہ داؤد کی جڑ اور اولاد ہے جس کا مطلب ہے کہ وہ وعدہ شدہ نسل کے طور پر اپنے لقب کا دعویٰ کر رہا ہے۔ یسوع نے کہا، "میں یسوع نے اپنے فرشتے کو بھیجا ہے کہ آپ کو گرجا گھروں میں ان چیزوں کی گواہی دے۔ میں داؤد کی جڑ اور اولاد ہوں، اور روشن اور صبح کا ستارہ ہوں۔"

·      یسعیاہ 65:9 KJV میں، یسعیاہ وعدہ شدہ نسل کے بارے میں کہتا ہے، "اور میں یعقوب سے ایک بیج نکالوں گا، اور یہوداہ سے اپنے پہاڑوں کا وارث ہوں گے: اور میرے چنے ہوئے لوگ اس کے وارث ہوں گے، اور میرے بندے وہاں رہیں گے۔"

·      2 تیمتھیس 2:8 KJV میں، پولس نے یہ بھی نشاندہی کی ہے کہ یسوع مسیح وہ وعدہ شدہ نسل ہے، "2 تیمتھیس 2:8 KJV یاد رکھو کہ داؤد کی نسل کا یسوع مسیح میری خوشخبری کے مطابق مردوں میں سے جی اُٹھا۔"

·      1 پطرس 1:3-4 میں، پطرس سکھاتا ہے کہ یسوع نے ہمیں مُردوں سے ہمیشہ کی زندگی کے لیے جنم دیا جب وہ مُردوں میں سے جی اُٹھا، یہ کہتے ہوئے، "3 مبارک ہو ہمارے خُداوند یسوع مسیح کا خدا اور باپ، جس نے اپنی بے پناہ رحمت کے مطابق ہمیں زندہ اُمید کے لیے پھر سے جنم دیا، اور مسیح کے مُردوں میں سے جی اُٹھنے کے وسیلے سے ایک زندہ اُمید کے لیے ہمیں دوبارہ پیدا کیا۔ بے داغ، اور جو مٹتا نہیں، تمہارے لیے آسمان میں محفوظ ہے،" یوحنا 1:12 کے مطابق، ہم یسوع مسیح پر ایمان کے ذریعے خُدا کے فرزند بنتے ہیں جو کہ وعدہ شدہ نسل اور خُدا کا بیٹا ہے۔

آئیے دعا کریں،

ہمارا باپ جو آسمان پر ہے۔ تیرا نام پاک ہو۔ہم آپ کے بیٹے، یسوع مسیح کو وعدہ شدہ نسل مانتے ہیں۔ ہم یقین رکھتے ہیں کہ وہ مر گیا اور آپ نے اسے اپنے ہاتھوں میں پوری طاقت کے ساتھ مردوں میں سے زندہ کیا، یہاں تک کہ ہمیں خدا کے فرزند بنانے کی طاقت۔ ہم اپنے گناہوں کا اعتراف کرتے ہیں، اور ہم یسوع مسیح کو اپنے رب، نجات دہندہ، ماسٹر کے طور پر تسلیم کرتے ہیں۔ یسوع مسیح کے عظیم نام میں، آمین۔
