I Will Trust in the Lord
Jeremiah 17:7 NLT – “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.”
Prayer: My dear Heavenly Abba, all praise, honor, and glory be to Your name. As your servant and child, I completely place my absolute faith, trust, and hope in You. May my faith, trust and hope in You be unwavered in my walk with You even when facing difficult trials and tribulations. May my response always be yes and amen even when I don’t understand the task set before me. For I know you want what’s best for me. No one loves me like You do. I faithfully surrender my will, that Your will be done in my life. Dear Holy Spirit, order my steps according to the Word of my Father. I ask, receive, and claim it done in the Mighty, Matchless, and Majestic name of Yeshua Hamashiach I pray, Amen, amen, and amen.
Selah.
For the text today, I want to point out a few words that stand out to me, and I will provide definitions as well as the Greek and Hebrew word for them.
Blessed – a state of divine favor spiritual well-being, and happiness, rather than simply worldly prosperity or happiness. It is connected to recognizing what is truly good in life and following the path of God, as seen in the Beatitudes.
The Greek term for blessed is “Makarios.”
In Hebrew “Baruch” is the term for blessed.
“Baruch Hashem” – Blessed be God
“Baruch Ata Adonai” – Blessed are You
“Baruch Haba” – Blessed is he who comes
Trust – bold, confident, and sure reliance on the chosen individual; an action based on reliance rather than simply a feeling or belief.
“Batah” is Hebrew for trust; “Empistosyin” is Greek for trust.
The Bible emphasizes that trust isn’t just a passive belief, but an active choice to rely on God’s promises and who He is, even in difficult times.
Hope – “Tikvah” in Hebrew and “Elpida” in Greek is the confident expectation and trust in God’s promises, even in the face of adversity. See how hope reverts back to one of our key terms, trust.
Confidence – “Bitachon” in Hebrew and “Pepoithesin” in Greek is the strong trust or belief in God’s reliability, rather than relying on human strength or wisdom. We encounter trust again for the third time. Surely the word trust is a key term and factor in this passage of Scripture.
Jeremiah 17:7 NLT says “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.”
What is this passage of Scripture saying?
Simply put, the divine favor of God is upon His children who completely/solely rely and trust in Him, He who can do all things but fail. Even in the face of adversity or uncertainty, as His faithful servant Job, (who lost nearly everything within a 24-hour span) showed us, we must trust in God who has the absolute best intent for our lives. Through the face of adversity and an extremely trying test, Job chose to trust in God. He didn’t stop there. Job fell to his knees and worshipped God. Read Job 1 when you get time. So, I ask you family, where have you placed your faith, trust, and hope? Who is it you go to when faced with adversity and in difficult times? Oftentimes, I deceived myself into thinking I could do this thing called life on my own. I would beat myself up, give myself a motivational speech, even wonder what’s happened to me, and yet I’d fail. I had to acknowledge that I am limited in what I can do. Then, I decided to truly give it all to Jesus, and everything seem to instantaneously come together. No, I don’t have it altogether. Yes, I still have my trials and obstacles to face. Yes, The Holy Spirit has reminded me, forget not who’s in control. So, I can rest assured that my Heavenly Father is in control, complete control of my life. How about you? You may ask, how can I be so sure? I’ll tell you why. I serve The One and Only True Living God. He’s so amazing, and the only thing He can’t do is “fail.” Hallelujah Lord! Just ponder on that for a moment. Is that not anything short of amazing? We fail and fall short daily, but yet we have access to Our Creator, Master, and Awesome Ruler that can never fail, and He loves us so much that He’s invited us to spend eternity with Him, walk with Him, serve on the only “true” winning team. I don’t know about you, but I’m not waiting until I get to heaven to praise and worship God, because my time is now! How am I using the time I’m blessed with now to take care of His kingdom business? How are we serving His Kingdom? That’s going to be another message. Brothers and sisters, be careful in what we say and do. Oftentimes, the term forever is used when we’re in a waiting or standby period. Forever comes in the next life. Forever will be spent in either Heaven or in the lake of fire. Which will you choose? Please don’t be like I was. We have not the power or ability to do anything unless it’s given to us by Our Loving Heavenly Father. Again, I ask you, where or who have you placed your faith, trust, and hope in? Is it your job, in your thinking capabilities, your spouse, money, where? If you haven’t placed your absolute trust and faith in God, I’m asking and praying that you will today. Try Jesus! Your life will never be the same. He’s no genie, none of the foolishness society tries to paint Him to be. Jesus is Lord, Our Savior, Redeemer, Our Risen King, who laid down His life for sinners like you and Me. Jesus is God, The Son. So please try Him. You don’t have to change. Just come to Him and allow Him to change you, fill you with The Holy Spirit, and guide and walk with you through this life, that you may begin living life abundantly right here, right now. Submit your life to Him and commit the remainder of your life to faithfully, truthfully, and diligently serving Him and Him alone.
Let us pray.
Yahweh, The Great I am, I thank you for who you are and what you are to me. I pray these souls and hearts seeking you that they be saved and born again, that their abundant life begins right now oh God. As your servant David said in the Book of Psalms, “Create in me a clean heart, renew within me the right spirit,” Your Spirit dear God. Fill us oh God that we may never turn from You, but in all we do, turn to You, seeking first Your Kingdom, and that your perfect will for our lives be done. Order our steps, Father, in Your Word. We’ve tried ourselves. We’ve tried the world. Father, nothing and no one can satisfy and complete us like You. Right here and now, I, we put our complete and absolute faith and trust in You, Abba. I pray that we grow daily in our forever walk with You. I ask and believe it all done. I count it all joy in the Mighty and Perfect name of your Son, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Thank you, Abba! Amen, Amen, and Amen!
Selah.
