What is Hope?

Hope is just that, Hope!

It is not quite a birthday wish and not quite a Christmas list

Oh dear ones, hope is much more.

Hope is much more.

As I think about my own past;

muse through the news;

Explore the checkered history of humanity,

I find that Hope is much more. Hope is much more.

You see, Hope is the thin line between life and death.

Hope is what inspires one to take one more step.

The absence of Hope has caused many to extinguish their own breath.

The angry onlookers love to mock Hope.

They say, “Well, if Hope is so special, why does it seem that Hope saves some but leaves others to die?”

So, I sighed, puzzled by their unbelief.

I took a deep breath.

Then, I screamed with all the breath in my lungs, and said, “It’s because you don’t know Him.”

For, Hope is always knocking on the doors of human hearts, just waiting on someone who will let him in.

Ironically, Hope only knocks on the doors of the dying.

For, He is most pained by mortals crying.

That’s why he knocks still.

But only those who answer the knock will live.

It was so for me.

And it is so for all of depraved humanity.
